Job summary

At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.

An exciting opportunity has become available within Specialised Surgery Directorate. The Dermatology Team at Royal Stoke/County Hospital are looking for an experienced and motivated individual with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills to work as a Medical Secretary and Waiting list officer.

Main duties of the job

Candidates should posses a professional attitude to their work and have the ability to work flexibly in an extremely busy environment. You will possess experience of working as a medical secretary demonstrating accuracy and excellent multi-tasking capabilities in all aspects of the workload. You will be required to work as part of a team as well as being able to use your initiative and prioritise your own workload to meet strict deadlines.

  • Manage and coordinate minor operations bookings for patients specifically for cancer patients.

  • Schedule and manage Staffordshire Treatment Suite bookings, specifically for cancer patients.

  • Monitor and prioritise workload to ensure timely patient access and service targets are met.

  • Work closely with consultants and secretarial staff to facilitate patient pathways and clinic requirements.

  • Answer incoming telephone queries from patients, staff, and other departments.

  • Maintain accurate records and databases related to patient bookings and waiting lists.

  • Liaise with internal teams to resolve booking conflicts or capacity issues.

  • Ensure compliance with service standards, targets, and national guidelines for patient care.
