Job summary

Clinical Support Worker - Surgery- Theatres

We require enthusiastic and flexible Clinical Support Workers to join our Theatre team at County Hospital site of the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. Here we specialise in Orthopaedic, General surgery, Upper GI, Urology, Gynaecology, Plastics, Bariatric, ENT and more specialities. We also have two ambulatory units which are the latest addition to our portfolio

Previous experience in theatres and a genuine interest in operating theatres and surgery is required.

You will need to be a team player with good communication skills and an ability to adapt to new situations with a strong focus on providing excellent quality patient care within the Theatre environment.

Main duties of the job

If so, we are looking to recruit motivated & enthusiastic CSWs to join our dynamic & friendly teams & provide safe & supportive care to patients, relatives & their loved ones. In this post you would be responsible for providing fundamental elements of patient care as directed by the qualified nursing/midwifery team to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of dignified & respectful care, in accordance with their care plans. We are looking for people who are compassionate & feel passionately about providing a level of care they would wish for their family & friends.

  • Collect patients from wards for theatres
  • Assist with transferring patient from bed and trolleys onto operating table.
  • The patients' dignity is maintained at all times.
  • The patient is offered appropriate support and reassurance during the transfer or move, in a manner sensitive to there needs and concerns.
  • Participate in the surgical safety checklist
  • Complete circulating duties including pre, peri and post operative swab needle and instruments counts
  • Ensures all equipment is maintained and kept clean, stocked up and ready for use, ensuring lean methodology and stock rotation is completed.
  • Cleans and tidies the environment.
  • Prepare equipment for medical and nursing staff for procedures
  • Demonstrates safe working practices in the use of equipment in the clinical area completion of mandatory training.
