Job summary
University Hospitals of North Midlands is currently unable to provide sponsorship this role. If you hold a graduate visa, you are welcome to apply for this role however it is important to note that UHNM will be unable to offer sponsorship at the end of your graduate visa, you must also have at least six months until your graduate visa expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.
This roll is based on the surgical assessment and Surgical same Day emergency care (SAU and SSDEC). SAU and SSDEC is an acute emergency surgical portal comprising of both male and female patients undergoing all aspects of Un Planned Emergency General Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Max Fax and Plastic surgery.
Interviews
If you are shortlisted for an interview for this role, you must bring evidence of the following qualifications:
- GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills for Maths and English.
If you hold overseas GCSE equivalent qualifications, you will need to bring an ECCTIS comparability statement for you GCSE equivalent qualifications along with your original certificate
- A Full Care CertificateOR NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (we can only accept NVQ's from a regulated awarding body
If you do not bring the above qualifications to your interview, then the interview will not proceed.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be working within a busy and proactive surgical assessment area managing both bedded and ambulatory patients.
The applicant will need to be able to demonstrate a high standard of nursing care to support the existing nursing and clinical team. You would be helping the ward to develop and build a team of dedicated nursing assistants who pride themselves in delivering high quality care. Good communication skills and a positive attitude are essential.
Supporting the qualified Nursing staff with the provision of unplanned emergency nursing care . providing direct patient care including where needed all activities of daily living, all point of care testing, the promotion of infection control processes, venepuncture under supervision and transfer to wards and theatres as required within trust policy.
