Job summary
University Hospitals of North Midlands is currently unable to provide sponsorship for Band 2 and Band 3 roles. The Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker role involves a combination of clinical and non-clinical duties, with an emphasis on working within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team, supporting registered nurses and healthcare professionals. This will include completing clinical and non-clinical tasks under direct and indirect supervision.
Main duties of the job
Provide a high standard of direct care for patients pre and post joint replacement and other orthopaedic procedures workingwith the team to promote early post operative mobilisation as appropriate and support in length of stay and facilitate safe discharge from hospital
To document accurately in line with UHNM Trust policy
To be involved in the induction and mentoring of new staff where applicable. Act as role model to junior members of the team.
These skills have been pre-mapped and approved by UHNM for this role and will be supported by completion of a robust UHNM competency package that will be accompanied by education packages delivered by both the Care Coach Team and other UHNM educators across the trust who specialise in the training of these specific skills.

As a Senior Clinical Support Worker in the Elective Orthopaedic Unit, you will play an essential role in delivering safe, effective, and person-centred care to patients who have had orthopaedic surgery, for example hip and knee replacements
Your main role and responsibilities will include:

Delivering personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, and assisting with meals in a way that maintains dignity and respects patient preferences

Carrying out clinical observations such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose (following training and competency) escalating any concerns to the registered nurse
