Job summary

The Sleep laboratory provides a comprehensive range of investigations and treatments for patients with a wide range of sleep disorders.The post holder will assist in the provision of the departments Sleep Physiology Service. The duties will include preparing patients for sleep investigation, issue and download of home diagnostic equipment and recognition of a valid data, maintenance and calibration of equipment. There will be particular emphasis on full polysomnography, preparing patients for overnight inpatient studies, observing patients and signal quality throughout the night. The post holder will liaise with senior staffto ensure delivery of inpatient investigations in a timely manner.
Duties will include day and night shifts and the ability to act as a lone worker in accordance with the department security and safetyprocedures.

General - ensuring a clean, tidy, safe and efficient working environment, cleaning and calibration of equipment. Take an active role regarding infection prevention and health and safety within theteam. Liaise with other team members regarding stock control and ordering
The post holder may have contact with patients who have varying mental, emotional and physical needs; they will need to display tact, diplomacy, empathy and compassion whilst remainingprofessional and at times assertive.The post holder will be required to work within the boundaries of their role, recognising when to referor escalate to senior colleagues.They will be responsible for organising their own workload and assist others.There will be a requirement to attend team meetings and to communicate to small groups their opinions and suggestions on service requirements, improvements and processes.They will be expected to play a role in the training of new staff as appropriateThe post holder may be required to assist with audits and research undertaken within the department
