Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a 12 month Locum Consultant Gynae Oncologist to join a team of 30 Consultants that provide care within the Directorate of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
The post-holder will be required to provide the full range of surgical Gynaecological Oncology cover including, diagnostics and major surgical procedures including robotic surgery for patients on a cancer pathway working in collaboration with existing consultants and within the multi-disciplinary team. This post is an interim post with the potential of becoming a substantive post.
This post is based at University Hospital of North Midlands. Clinical Duties will be across both the Royal Stoke and County Hospital Sites. The post holder will have a total of 10.197PAs per week. The post holder will participate in a 1:12 on call weekday and weekend rota.
The post holder will provide continuing responsibility for patients in their charge and will work within a team-based structure to support care across both hospital sites. He / She will be a member of the relevant divisional, trust and regional committees. He / She will also be expected to participate in the immediate management functions and strategic planning of the Division and Trusts on both sites.

Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC Registration
- MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
- Completed RCOG Subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology or equivalent
- CCST or equivalent ('equivalence' must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry via CCT within 6 months of date of the AAC
Desirable
- Other higher degree or diploma (e.g., MD, PhD, FRCS)
Clinical Experience & Training
Essential
- Proficiency in all aspects of laparoscopic surgery relevant to gynaecological oncology. Should be able to perform laparoscopic Wertheim's operation
- Proficiency in performing robotic procedures, including simple and radical hysterectomy and pelvic lymphadenectomy.
- Evidence to allow accreditation as a Consultant Clinical Supervisor for trainee doctors with the GMC
Desirable
- Experience in radical and supra-radical surgery for ovarian cancer, including upper abdominal peritoneal stripping.
- Experience in sentinel node sampling in vulval and cervical cancer
