Job summary
Applications are invited for the above post. This is a Surgical Unit which includes the specialties of breast, upper and lower GI surgery and paediatric surgery. The University is affiliated to Keele Medical School; the department thus provides undergraduate training. We are involved in the regional specialist training programme based in the West Midlands and provide active and broad training to registrars and juniors doctors.
This is a fixed term post for 12 months with the potential to extend to a maximum of 24 months after the first year. The ideal candidate will have an interest in Hepatobiliary +/- Oesophagogastric Surgery. Candidates who are post CCT is considered essential for this role. There is an on-call commitment involved with this position.
Main duties of the job
- To participate in the provision of general and specialist services within the General Surgery & Urology Directorate
- To assist in ward management including electronic discharges.
- To contribute to the training of junior medical staff.
- To participate in the management of emergency General Surgical and Urological patients whilst on-call.
- To assist in the undertaking of full clinical computerised audit within the department.
- To assist in theatre sessions when required.

- Full GMC Registration via the PLAB test or MTI route (AoMRC) or completed all parts (1, 2 & PACES) of the Federation of Royal College of Physicians MRCP (UK) examinations with IELTS (UKVI Academic) requirements of GMC if relevant and EPIC verification of qualifications for international doctors depending on primary medical qualifications
