Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Spinal Deformity Service for a band 7 lead Spinal Deformity Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Are you enthusiastic and motivated to lead a team and a nurse led element of the service alongside the Spinal Deformity Consultants? Have you got a specialist interest in spinal deformity and a drive to improve the patient experience? This role may be for you.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities for the post holder include:

  • Supporting both adult and paediatric patients through spinal deformity surgery
  • Pre-assessment of paediatric spinal deformity patients and ensuring pre-optimisation for surgery to ensure the best outcome.
  • Nurse-led clinics including telephone clinics
  • Orthotic brace clinics
  • Providing specialist education to nurses and allied healthcare professionals involved with the care of spinal deformity patients
  • Contributing to and provide specialist nursing input to MDT meetings including discussions about patients with complex medical / care needs

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years post registration experience with at least 1 year in a leadership role
  • Speciality knowledge relating to spinal deformity
  • Experience of working with both adults and children
  • Physical / health assessment

Desirable

  • Non-medical prescribing

Education and qualifications

  • Current nursing registration with the NMC
  • Degree or evidence of degree level study
  • Mentorship course or equivalent
