The Specialised Decision Unit (SDU) is a new purpose built development within the realm of unscheduled emergency care. Main duties of the job
The function of the SDU is to facilitate same day diagnostic interventions for patients seen by the Speciality Team and who are not suitable for streaming to outpatients, hot clinics, immediate discharge or admission.
The SDU Team with provide appropriate assessment and a clinical decision will be made to observe, treat, discharge or stream the patient into the most appropriate specialty area. The SDU will provide observation and care for each patient which is tailored to the individual within 6 beds within Ward 126.
Our aim is to make sure no-one remains in hospital any longer than necessary and where possible to help each patient returns to their place of residence.
