Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity in ILD service for a Clinical Nurse Specialist. This is for a 6 month fixed term period. Secondments will be considered.

We are looking for an experienced registered nurse who wants to join our specialised team and take that next step in their career journey.

Main responsibilities of the role include:

To provide and maintain a high standard of skilled nursing care for patients with Interstitial Lung Disease, using the agreed models of care.

Assess patients on the ward with Interstitial Lung Disease for further management and discussion at the ILD MDT. Offer advice and support to nursing/medical staff with aspects of management and care.

To provide support to the outpatient ILD Clinics, MDT and Patient Support Group.

To advise on treatment changes, including oxygen therapy and to educate patients and carers around self-management.

Ensure that appropriate patients are considered for medical follow up, pulmonary rehabilitation, smoking cessation and long term oxygen therapy, and palliative care.

Participate in the development of teaching/ educational material for patients, carers and other health professionals and assist in its delivery and evaluation.

To manage time effectively to deal with patient case load

To provide a telephone nurse led consultation for regional ILD patient
