Job summary

An exciting band 5 nursing opportunity has arisen to work on a dynamic fast pace specialised surgical unit.

The Day Surgery Unit is a 44 bedded unit incorporating all surgical specialities including; vascular, breast, gynaecological, urology, ophthalmology, maxo-facial, plastics, general surgery and ENT. The unit predominately provides care for a high volume of day case surgical patients making the unit fast paced and very varied. The unit also hasa facility to accommodate patients requiring a 23 hour stay in hospital and supports other surgical wards. Unique to the unit is our nurse led discharge pathway; which allows nursing staff to use their judgement alongside surgically instructions to safely discharge patients.

There are different shifts available;

Main duties of the job

  • Admissions of elective surgical patients
  • Nurse led discharge of surgical patients
  • Post operative care of multi speciality patients
  • Ensure that all patients are safe for theatre, checking bloods, discharge planning
