Main duties of the job
Participate and undertake the role of decontamination technical supervisor of medical devices contributing to the clinical care of patients.
Participate and perform a full range of decontamination duties for which competency has been assessed, verified and documented.
Manage decontamination records in own area of work Record all decontamination processes and data sets accurately reporting conformance and non-conformance to a senior decontamination supervisor/registered nurse
Record all clinical tasks undertaken for patients within the nursing documentation.
Work to supervise all junior healthcare assistants in the decontamination of medical devices in CTS.
Liaise with senior decontamination staff (registered nurses and estates), apprentices, and trainee decontamination staff. Work to ensure standard operating procedures are adhered to by all healthcare staff in accordance with quality management systems.
Be responsible for a range of clinical, non-clinical and clerical support tasks under the indirect supervision of a registered nurse or registered nurse practitioner
Implement aspects of clinical care and act on own initiative (work under indirect supervision / or alone) where appropriate and to regularly assess, evaluate and report on actions and activities to the registered nurse or registered nurse practitioner.
Engage in personal and professional development opportunities in order to maintain knowledge, skills and competence to practice within their role.
