Job summary

To work at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust as a Trainee Advanced Practitioner in Adult Chest and Abdomen Plain Film reporting at the Royal Stoke, County and Peripheral sites.

The post holder will be supported by a team of Advanced Practitioners within the Royal Stoke, County and Peripheral Imaging Departments at UHNM to provide a high quality service to a range of patients, relatives and service users. The post holder will be supported to complete a PgCert in Adult Chest and Abdomen Plain Film Reporting commencing in January 2025. The post holder will maintain a high standard of work and strive for continual improvements in Advanced Practice.

To carry out high quality diagnostic imaging examinations in a way which meets the needs of our patients within the Imaging Directorate of the UHNM, within your specialist area.

Upon qualification to provide high quality reports of diagnostic image and to provide clinical expertise in your specialist area in the Radiographic Departments of the UHNM.

Main duties of the job

  • It is expected that ALL employees of the Trust will take part in the Performance and Development Review (PDR) process each year with the first PDR taking place within the first 6 months from appointment
  • To promote a high order of care skills, maintain a high professional and ethical standard of work at all times.
  • To report independently of a radiologist.
  • To be prepared to undertake any formal study or informal training required to fulfil the needs of the post. This includes self study.
  • Play a leadership role in department Audit and Quality Assurance to maintain effective Clinical Governance, e.g. analysis of a particular technique in improving diagnosis, capacity and demand measurement or process mapping.
  • To assist in organising staff rotas and deployment of staff to ensure adequate service provision can be maintained, when required.
  • Ability to manage complex clinical situations.
  • Able to organise and motivate others to deliver plans.
  • Ability to take responsibility and make decisions.
  • Team worker with developed and appropriate leadership style.
  • Evidence of a high level of analytical problem solving skills.
