Job summary
Reporting directly to the Head of Nursing Quality, Safety and Compliance, the Matron - Quality and Safety will be proactively involved with the Deputy Chief Nurse, Divisional Nurse Directors (DND's) and Divisional Heads of Nursing (HoN's), for the development and delivery of the Trust Quality Strategy and Care Excellence Framework. This will involve working with teams to ensure a sustained reduction of hospital acquired harm, particularly harm associated with lapses in care related to pressure ulcers, falls, hospital associated thrombosis (HAT's), poor nutrition and catheter associated infections.
Main duties of the job
The Matron - Quality and Safety will work with other matron colleagues, Senior Sisters and Charge Nurses, Quality Nurses, Clinical Leads and other colleagues to champion and lead clinical quality and patient safety improvements, inspiring and enabling medical, nursing and allied health professionals as well as managerial colleagues to develop and maintain quality and safety measures and sustain improvements. They will work closely with the Head of Nursing Quality, Safety and Compliance to ensure that comprehensive mechanisms are in place to manage and measure quality, its assurance and improvement, enabling the Trust to excel in achieving best practice and continuous improvement against national and local standards and ensure that appropriate training is provided to clinical and managerial teams, as necessary.
About us
The post holder will support the Deputy Chief Nurse and Head of Nursing - Quality, Safety and Compliance to develop and maintain strong working relationships with other health care providers, Integrated Care Board (ICB) Quality leads, CQC relationship managers and other organisations relevant to the work of the Trust within the patient safety and risk management agenda.
The post holder will deputise for the Head of Nursing - Quality, Safety and Compliance as required.
The post holder will be expected to participate in the Operational Matron of the Day rota, providing advice and support to Clinical and Operational Teams
