Job summary
Applications are invited for LAS ST3 Doctor Gastroenterology
You must have wide experience in Gastroenterology and be comfortable in the initial assessment and on-going treatment of acutely ill adult medical patients with a wide variety of pathology. You will work alongside junior Doctors and with Consultant supervision within a dedicated team and will be required to cover General Internal Medicine Oncalls.
Main duties of the job
This post is not recognised as a formal training slot. However, the training opportunities will be the same as the other ST3 doctors.
To provide appropriate care and diagnostic services for patients presenting with gastroenterological illnesses. To be involved in the development of services for patients with gastroenterological problems. To be involved in teaching and research as appropriate.
Participation in out-of-hours-work and weekend ward rounds is required as part of this post.
The department consists of 2 inpatient wards with a total of 45 male and female beds, which is situated in a brand new PFI build. The ward specialises in patients with hepatology and general gastroenterology, including IBD and acute GI haemorrhage. The department is closely allied to Keele University Medical School with a full programme of ward based teaching, seminars and lecture during the medical academic year.
