Job summary
This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to deliver and lead pharmacy services within Dermatology. This is a new post within the Trust due to an expansion of the current Dermatology services.
The successful candidate will provide an active role in developing and monitoring treatment pathways for dermatology patients, working closely with our Consultant Dermatologists and Clinical Nurse Specialists. The post-holder will be an integral part of the dermatology multidisciplinary team. There is scope to develop a role in outpatient clinics and take an active role as a prescriber in this setting.
Main duties of the job
Provide holistic, specialist pharmaceutical care service to patients attending Dermatology clinics, including advice and counselling on biologic and high-risk terapies
Ensure continuity of supply of specialist on homecare therapies
Review patients as part of a pharmacist-led consultation which may include prescribing medication, ordering & interpreting blood tests and corresponding with relevant members of the dermatology MDT
Maintain and develop Homecare services for Dermatology
Maintain records of patients on biologic therapies and assist with monitoring, including BlueTeq to ensure compliance with NICE and commissioning guidelines
Manage of Medicines Safety issues related to Dermatology and ensure compliance e.g. with Pregnancy Prevention Programme for oral retinoids

- Masters degree in Pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent
- Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma / MSc or equivalent Qualification
- Independent Prescriber with appropriate annotation on GPhC register or willing to undertake where there is an identified clinical need
- Commitment and evidence of professional updating and mandatory continuing professional development portfolio
Desirable
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Great Britain (RPS) and / or Faculty status
- Formal management and / or leadership qualification
- MSc Clinical Pharmacy
- Member of United Kingdom Clinical Pharmacy Association and / or specialist group(s)

- Comprehensive experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner including a solid grounding in a broad range of clinical specialties.
- Extensive hospital pharmacy experience post Diploma
- Broad knowledge of therapeutics and application to clinical practice
- Experience in working directly with clinicians, the wider multidisciplinary team, patients, and the public
- Evidence of ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate therapeutic options to patients and healthcare staff
- Education and training experience including supervision and appraisal, with feedback, of junior staff and students
- High standard of oral and written (including report writing) communication skills with attention to detail
- Able to demonstrate good leadership skills
- Good and broad understanding of current hospital pharmacy practice and future direction of travel
- Interest in expanding knowledge and self-development
- Knowledge of directorate pharmacy services
