Average of 37.5 hours/week across a 7 day working rota (with a maximum weekend commitment of 1 in 4) plus On-Call Duty as required by department
An exciting opportunity has become available to join the Pharmacy team at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) developing the role of Perioperative Pharmacist within the pre-admission unit. To be considered you will be an experienced, clinical pharmacist, able to demonstrate ability in delivering high quality care for patients and support and development of a team. We are looking for someone who has, or wants, to develop experience for this specialism within the Surgical Division.
Main duties of the job
Working closely with Clinicians, nursing staff and directorate management team, you will support with the elective recovery plan for the Trust. You will work closely with the Specialist Elective Orthopaedic Pharmacist based at County hospital and the Advanced Clinical Lead Pharmacist Surgical Division, to develop a perioperative medicines service, including medicine optimisation, to patients undergoing elective surgery at UHNM. You will be expected to provide a high-quality clinical service and provide clinical, financial and risk management support to the pre-assessment team.
In addition, you will contribute to the strategic development of the clinical pharmacy service provided to the Surgical Division by supporting the Advanced Clinical Lead Pharmacist for the Surgical Division and the Principal Pharmacist for Clinical Services.
This role, as with all our Advanced Pharmacist posts, has the responsibilities for supervising diploma students and managing junior staff.

- Masters degree in Pharmacy (MPharm) or equivalent
- Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma / MSc or equivalent Qualification
- Independent Prescriber with appropriate annotation on GPhC register or willing to undertake where there is an identified clinical need
- Commitment and evidence of professional updating and mandatory continuing professional development portfolio
Desirable
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Great Britain (RPS) and / or Faculty status
- Formal management and / or leadership qualification
- MSc Clinical Pharmacy
