Training Fellow in Acute Medicine (ST1/2 Level) Applications are invited for Training fellows (ST1 Level) in Acute Medicine. The Trust is a University Teaching Hospital with its own Medical School and has a newly built Academic Complex. We have modern diagnostic facilities and have been substantially expanding our current acute medical services through a multi-million pound investment including a brand new state of the art Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC) centre at the RSUH site.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

You must have wide experience in General (Internal) Medicine and be comfortable in the initial assessment and on-going treatment of acutely ill adult medical patients with a wide variety of pathology. You will at all times work under direct Consultant supervision and within a dedicated team across our areas of the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), Short Stay Unit (SSU), AEC as well as our newly created pioneering Acute Medical Rapid Assessment (AMRA) service which is embedded within the Emergency Department.

University Hospitals of North Midlands has two sites: Royal Stoke University Hospital, located in Stoke-on-Trent, and County Hospital, located in Stafford. From these hospitals we provide a full range of general acute hospital services for people living in and around Staffordshire and beyond. The Trust has some of the most modern operating theatres in Europe.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration
  • Competent in providing advanced life support

Desirable

  • Awards/distinctions whilst studying for 1st degree
  • MRCP Part 1
  • ALS certification

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Foundation 1 competencies or equivalent
  • 6 months experience in substantive post in NHS in General Internal Medicine or equivalent
  • Evidence of safe, sound clinical practices Experience of teaching medical students and Foundation trainees/SHO

Skills

Desirable

  • Proven ability to work as a member of a team
  • Evidence of continuing professional updating
