Advanced Specialist Lead Pharmacist - Haemato-oncology Band 8b
Following a successful business case for the development of the Cancer Clinical Workforce at UHNM this exciting new post has been created.
We are looking to recruit an exceptional, dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic pharmacist to lead and further develop the Haemato-oncology service. This leader will also be responsible for the pharmacy elements of the Cancer Electronic Prescribing and Administration system - ARIA and the paediatric cancer service.
They will work together with the Lead Oncology Pharmacist to drive Pharmacy Cancer Services forwards implementing further innovative medicines and ways of working.
UHNM is a Cancer Centre including Level 3 haematology and a Myeloma UK Centre of Excellence.
The Cancer Centre at the Royal Stoke site consists of a 40 bedded in-patient ward and a dedicated four bedded Emergency Admissions Bay for clinical assessment of toxicities. There is a 27 chaired out-patient area and four linear accelerators. The County Cancer Unit has a nurse led 16 chaired, four bedded out-patient day unit. The clinical trials team based on the Cancer Centre manage a broad portfolio of both commercial and non-commercial trials. Electronic prescribing is well established across both Paediatric and Adult Cancer Services.
Main duties of the job
- Leadership and management responsibility for the haemato-oncology clinical pharmacy service at UHNM, in collaboration with and complimenting the role of the Advanced Specialist Lead Pharmacist - Oncology.
- Lead a team of highly skilled pharmacists, technicians and other pharmacy staff working to deliver cutting edge pharmacy services to patients.
- Support the Advanced Specialist Pharmacist - Cancer Clinical Trials with all aspects of Haemato-oncology studies with expert knowledge.
- Act as lead JACIE pharmacist ensuring that all pharmacists who perform services for the transplant programme meet the required competencies and continuing education requirements.
- To lead on developing and continually improving Pharmacy Services in line with Trust priorities, the Cancer Strategy and wider NHSE strategy on productivity, efficiency and care quality.
- Work with the Advanced Specialist Pharmacist - Commissioning and Best Value Medicines to implement commissioning requirements for specialist medicines within cancer services.
- Adhere to the national and local policies and procedures relating to Intra-thecal chemotherapy, assisting the Production Manager with maintaining the intrathecal registers, and performing accredited duties.
- Work as an independent prescriber where need identified within role. This activity must comply with the Trust Scope of Practice for Pharmacist Independent Prescribers (PIPs).
