Pharmacy Digital Systems Officer, band 6 - Technical Services

There has been significant investment in Pharmacy Technical Services. We are looking for an experienced highly motivated Pharmacy Quality Specialist to join our well established team in Technical Services. The role will support the further development of the service with a focus on innovation within Technical Services.

The MHRA licenced 'Specials' pharmacy manufacturing unit is based at the Royal Stoke University Hospital and is a modern purpose built unit within the hospital. The service encompasses aseptic, chemotherapy, over labelling and re-packaging products, supplying both the trust and external organisations. The quality team also support the licensed activities within the Radiopharmacy service at UHNM.

Main duties of the job

To act as the digital systems coordinator for pharmacy technical services in the build and maintenance of software platforms for stock management, workload data collection, formulation and labelling, cleanroom monitoring and electronic quality management systems.

  • Ensure that digital systems used within technical services are compliant with data integrity (GxP) regulations , meets the needs of the department.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with the terms of the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) Manufacturer's 'Specials' Licence in regards to digital systems and GxP.
  • To assist in the integration of technical service software systems with wider pharmacy and Trust IT Systems such as Ascribe and ARIA MedOncology.
  • To assist in the maintenance of technical services software systems including validation and testing, data management and data integrity compliance, daily monitoring, system maintenance and upgrades.

To achieve this you will need excellent organisational, communication and digital skills with a high degree of attention to detail and you will need to be able to work effectively within a team.

You will be supported in this role by an experienced team and actively encouraged to enrol on courses and study days to further your personal development. You will promote the service at Trust, Regional and National forums including posters at conferences and support wider projects and business development opportunities.

  • A undergraduate degree qualification in a science related subject
  • Or BTEC/NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical sciences

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

  • Experience at post qualification level in a quality environment
  • Working knowledge of database technology, query building and report writing
  • Experience of project and resource planning and change management
  • Ability to communicate clearly,both verbally and in writing, to technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Knowledge of requirements for computer systems particularly as they pertain to electronic data capture and database validation within a healthcare setting
  • Leadership skills e.g. training staff, decision making, influencing, negotiating
  • Experience of producing supporting documentation for new/updated systems and providing training and handover to system users
  • Experience of quality systems. For example change control, deviation and CAPA management
