Job summary

We are looking for an experienced administrator with excellent interpersonal skills to join our small, supportive and busy team as an Administrative Assistant. This is a permanent role based in the Bereavement Centre, working flexibly across Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital, Stafford.

The Bereavement Centre is responsible for co-ordinating the administrative practicalities following a patient's death. The team sensitively handle the administration of on average 3,800 adult inpatient deaths per year across the Royal Stoke and County Hospital sites, in addition to the sensitive management of pregnancy losses, stillbirths and deaths in early infancy.

Main duties of the job

As a Bereavement Administrative Assistant, you will provide comprehensive clerical and general enquiry support. The main duties include responding to telephone enquiries from bereaved family members of deceased patients and Funeral Directors, processing information and providing advice in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.

You will work proactively as part of a small team, assisting colleagues in organising the workload, carrying out various tasks that ultimately support the delivery of an efficient and compassionate service that is sensitive to the needs of the bereaved.
