Job summary
Following successful development and promotion of the current post holder, we are looking for a dietitian to join our Oncology Dietetic service.
You will join the lead oncology dietitian in supporting patients with head and neck cancer throughout their treatment pathway, from diagnosis, surgical procedure and outpatient radiotherapy treatment and post treatment dietitian led clinics. You will have the opportunity to develop your nutrition support and enteral feeding skills. The dietitians work closely with and are respected by the MDT.
The post holder will work with other acute team dietitians within general oncology clinical settings.
The department has a strong track record of supporting dietitians within their career development. This may involve in house training and external training courses as identified within person development reviews.
Main duties of the job
To work closely with other MDT members, in particular Head and Neck Clinical Nurse specialists and Speech and Language therapists to support patients through their head and neck cancer journey from diagnosis, through surgery, post surgical treatment in radiotherapy and their survivorship recovery in dietetic lead clinics.
To work with the MDT to support best nutritional practices and instigate timely dietetic interventions through oral nutritional support and enteral tube feeding ( NG / RIG).
Attend and input into MDT meetings regarding treatment pathways.
Inpatient dietetic cover to designated specialist wards.
Independently running dietetic lead clinics and joint clinic with speech and language therapy.
