Job summary
The Nuclear Medicine department at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dedicated Senior Staff Nurse to join our team. The successful applicant would be based in the Nuclear Medicine department but will support the delivery of Nuclear Medicine, PET-CT and radiopharmacy in all aspect of the service.
This will involve dispensing and injecting radiopharmaceuticals, supporting Myocardial Perfusion Stress tests and assisting with day to day patient care as required. The post holder will be the designated champion for Infection Prevention in the department and will work with the Nuclear Medicine Service Manager to ensure the delivery of the highest standards of patient care. The staff member may be required to rotate through other areas of Imaging as required on the basis of clinical need.
Experience in these areas is desirable, but not essential, however the applicant must be a registered nurse.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to dispense, check and administer radioactive pharmaceuticals and adjunct drugs. This will include the infusion of adjunct drugs to support myocardial perfusion stress tests and Morphine HIDA.
Effective leadership and organisational skills are essential in our busy department with our teams in striving for the highest standards of care for all of our patients.
The Nuclear Medicine department is part of the Imaging Directorate at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM). The department consists of a diverse staffing group comprising of technologists and radiographers, who perform the full breadth of the Nuclear Medicine workload including radiopharmacy work and SPECT-CT investigations, assistant technologists, nursing staff and integrated radiology and physics support. Such a combination of staff ensures a ready availability of expertise when and where it is required.
