Advanced Healthcare Assistant – Line Technician

Job summary

Following a service development within our Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Unit an exciting opportunity has arisen for an advanced healthcare assistant to develop a line technician role.

Applications are invited from dynamic and innovative healthcare assistants who would like to work within the Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Unit at the Cancer Centre supporting our patients from the start to the end of their journey with us. The role will involve managing your own clinic and workload of patients who have a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC). You will consult the patients on their PICC line and provide weekly line care and maintenance.

Main duties of the job

Following an induction period you will be the designated keyworker for patients who have a Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC).

You will be expected after completing your induction period and training, to work semi-autonomously, providing holistic care in the day case and outpatient settings.

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in health care.
  • Venepuncture

  • 6 months Haematology and Oncology experience
