Nursing Assistant on Ward 100/101

An exciting band 2 nursing opportunity has arisen to work on a dynamic fast pace specialised surgical unit.
Ward 100/101 is a 44 bedded unit incorporating all surgical specialities including; vascular, breast, gynaecological, urology, ophthalmology, maxio-facial, plastics, general surgery and ENT. The unit predominately provides care for a high volume of day case surgical patients making the unit fast paced and very varied. The unit also hasa facility to accommodate patients requiring a 23 hour stay in hospital and supports other surgical wards. Unique to the unit is our nurse led discharge pathway; which allows nursing staff to use their judgement alongside surgically instructions to safely discharge patients.
The successful applicant will work as part of an experienced team delivering a high standard of care. Expected to be able to work as part of a team, have excellent communication skills, behighly motivated and enthusiastic and keen to develop knowledge and skills around specialised surgery.

There are different shifts available;
- Early shifts 07:00-15:00 hrs
- Late shifts 14:00-22:00hrs
- Night shifts 21:20- 07:00hrs
- Long day shifts- 07:00-22:00hrs
Main duties of the job
- Caring for pre operative and post operative surgical elective patients
- Supporting the team
- Ensuring the environment and ward is safe at all times
- Providing simple food and drink to patients
- Helping patients with care needs
- Demonstrating vital signs and knowledge of when not within normal limits
- Answering the telephone and communicating with the multi disciplinary team
