Band 8A Principle Network Telephony Engineer

UHNM have a requirement for a Principal Lead Network Engineer to join our newly established Network Services Team. The role will support the Senior Network Engineers in the successful delivery of the internal Network services. The aim of this role is to provide technical Network support for the systems and services used by the UHNM, as well as partners of the Trust, resolving incidents passed from 2nd/3rd line support in order to maintain 'business as usual'. Where appropriate, involvement in project implementation will also be required. Network Engineers work as part of the team providing support to the Principal Network Engineer and the Senior Network Engineers in delivering the data network services across the whole of the Trust to ensure the provision of an efficient and reliable 24 hour, 365 day service.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide specialist support in the operational management, implementation, maintenance of data and Telephony communication networks and projects assisting in the provision of continuous and acceptable service to all end users, including management and on-site supervision of approved third-party service providers and contractors as well as support of the Network and Telephony Engineers.

    • Formulates the development vision and long term strategy for the data and Telephony Network alongside the Head of Network infrastructure, that meets the Trust and IM&T digitalisation strategies as well as the requirements of the service. timescales and infrastructure that supports the IM&T and wider ICS strategy.
    • The post holder will create, manage and develop the overarching Network/Telephony design and technical development strategy setting out the roadmap for enhancing and updating the Trust wide Data and Telephony Network.

  • oCisco Certified Internetwork Expert CCIE or CCNA/CCNP with 10 years or more experience working on large mission critical enterprise networks
  • oComputer Science related Degree or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • oCisco (CCCA) Certified or other recognised cyber security certification (CISSP)
  • oEvidence of continuing professional development, either academic (e.g. MSc) or in an industry standard qualification (e.g. MSCD).
