Job summary
The Academic / Research Development Officer at UHNM is an integral part of the Centre for NMAHP Research and Education Excellence (CeNREE). Due to the progression of the existing post holder there is an opportunity for a Nurse, Midwife or AHP with a passion for research to join the team. They will be responsible for promoting the role of CeNREE and research across UHNM, engaging with NMAHPs and providing professional support to clinical and academic researchers at all stages of the research process, including developing training fellowship applications, the preparation of research protocols and external grant applications.
Opportunities include a breadth of activities ranging from the formation of rapid review teams to the forthcoming inaugural Catalyst Event, which will generate research questions and enable the formation of multi-professional research groups. Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for advising clinicians and researchers in the development of their research proposals following agreed principles of good practice. This will include providing advice on developing the idea, assistance in defining the research question, conducting literature reviews and guiding the researcher through study design options in liaison with appropriate clinical, scientific and methodological (e.g. statisticians, health economists, health informatics specialists) experts. The post holder will be expected to establish and maintain effective communication with clinical staff, with university academic staff and with CeNREE networks.
This is an excellent opportunity for a registered nurse, midwife or allied health professional to facilitate the development of NMAHP research. The CeNREE Academic / Research Development Officer will be part of a motivated and driven team; provide research advice and support across multiple projects; and provide training in a range of research methods and tools.

Job responsibilities
- To assist the CeNREE and R&I Teams in implementing the Research and Innovation strategy at UHNM.
- To provide professional support to NMAHP clinical and academic researchers at all stages of the research process, including the preparation of research protocols and external grant applications.
- To manage a portfolio of research projects to the agreed standards, including implementation of the Trusts Research Governance Policy and Procedures.
- To supervise staff (as required) including undertaking Performance and Development Reviews as well as monitoring annual leave / sick leave.
- To support NMAHPs, post-award, as necessary.
- To represent the CeNREE Team on internal / external committees and to represent the Assistant Director of Nursing at senior meetings where required.
- To work with the R&I Team where necessary to identify and promoteinnovation and to seek funding to support its development.
- To maintain accurate data on the teams portfolio of research to support reporting of information to funders, Clinical Oversight Group, R&I Strategy development meeting and R&I directorate board where required.
- To contribute to the research skills teaching within the organisation and collaborating partners as required.
- To assist in the delivery of an organisational peer review panel for assessment of research studies being proposed within the organisation.
- To facilitate the procurement and contracting processes relevant to grant funded projects.
- To provide advice and support to other members of staff, to ensure anevidence-based approach to CeNREE objectives; this includes thedevelopment and delivery of information for staff from throughout the organisation in aspects of evidence-based policy and practice, and research methodology.
- To ensure that answerable research questions are developed in conjunction with NMAHP staff.
