Job summary
We are delighted to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly team on ARTU as a part of the wider Speech & Language Therapy team at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM).
The post is for a 12 month fixed term contract to cover a secondment for an NIHR Research Fellowship, and would therefore provide an ideal supported opportunity for someone ready to develop their clinical leadership skills and expand their clinical practice in rehabilitation. Secondment arrangements will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a responsible for providing Speech and Language Therapy to patients on the Acute Rehabilitation and Trauma Unit (ARTU) at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. This is a dynamic post that requires the post holder to work closely with the multi-disciplinary team, providing assessment and rehabilitation for patients with a range of communication and swallowing difficulties and addressing a range of care/support issues across a spectrum of conditions, including acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, other polytrauma injuries and also includes patients with tracheostomies and specialised rehabilitation needs.
The post holder will also support the goal-planning process for specialised rehabilitation patients, with input into goal planning meetings and discharge planning, sometimes acting as keyworker. They will also provide clinical leadership within the ARTU and SLT team,
