Job summary
If you aspire to be responsible for the leadership and management of two specialised decontamination units for the processing of medical devices, 7 days a week, in line with the service level agreements, contributing to safe clinical care of the patient then look no further.
We are looking for a Sterile Services Manager to ensure our Quality Management System is maintained to support patient safety and the continuing development of the services provided is in accordance with current/ new standards and emerging technology.
Furthermore, we are looking for a motivated, inspirational individual to identify and lead research and development within this specialised field in support of the production and implementation of options to maintain and improve accordingly best practice methods.
Main duties of the job
- To be directly responsible for the policies and procedures, and the strategic plans for the delivery of the decontamination service.
- To act as lead specialist in the field of decontamination ensuring that knowledge and skills are kept up to date via continuous professional development.
- To provide, receive and interpret complex technical information in relation to services equipment and test results in the use of specialised complex equipment (sterilisers, washer
disinfectors, endoscope washer disinfectors, gas plasma sterilisers etc). Where appropriate consult on abnormal test results with relevant qualified microbiological and decontamination personnel for resolution, reporting to Senior Managers as necessary.

- Ensure the effective management of the Sterile Service Department, maintain a customer focussed approach, planning and prioritisation of the work load to ensure work is processed to meet customer needs.
- To ensure that the plant is maintained to statutory and operational effectiveness in conjunction with the estates colleagues.
- To liaise with Infection Control and Estate Departments to ensure critical standard of hygiene are maintained.
- To liaise with the Departmental of Health and Infection Control to ensure the sterile integrity of equipment and packs are not compromised.
- Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments in the safe handling and use of equipment and packs are not compromised.
- Undertake appropriate Risk Assessments in the safe handling and use of equipment and materials and subsequent transportation of goods in conjunction with the Logistics Manager.
- Ensure a proactive approach is taken in dealing with complaints.
- Monitor and review operational and strategic systems.
- Undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate within the Division.
