Job summary

Following significant investment , we are delighted to be advertising this post. You will be working with the dietetic team lead for Upper GI cancers to establish the service to Oesophago-gastric patients within UHNM.

.This post is open to applicants who wish to develop their dietetic skills in this rewarding role, you may be a new graduate with an interest in working with this patient group or already practising, but would like to specialise.

We are offering the post as a Band 5 position, with development opportunity to Band 6

You will support ourpatient's nutritional journey pre and post surgery, within the inpatient and outpatient settings, across both our sites including the cancer centre..

You will join other wider team members in established MDT clinics and MDT meetings.

The North Midlands Oesophagogastric Unit (NMOGU) and the Pancreatico-Biliary unit at UHNM offer a specialist cancer service to a population of ~2m. The eight surgeons (4 oesophagogastric & 4 pancreatico-biliary), cumulatively, perform 150-200 cancer resections / year making UHNM a high volume centre in England.

The post will be based at Royal Stoke University Hospital, but will also spend time each week at County Hospital supporting MDT and dietetic clinics for our patients in South Staffordshire.

Main duties of the job

You will be working with the newly appointed team lead to establish and deliver fundamental dietetic care to patients with Upper GI cancers, working closely with established dietetic teams in Oncology and surgery.

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at UHNM has a team of over 70 dietitians and dietetic assistants working across all specialties. We provide services within Staffordshire, Cheshire and specialist services within Shropshire and Wolverhampton. The team is supported by our secretarial team.
