Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, compassionate and enthusiastic Clinical Sister with an interest in women's health to join the team on our busy female surgical ward (Beaumont Ward). This role will be for 12 months to cover Maternity Leave. The Clinical Sister will take a supportive role in strengthening the nursing contribution to patients and service users within Gynaecology/Surgical Ward and EPAGU Clinic.
The ward is evolving becoming a more dynamic workplace.
The unit has 14 In-patient beds, and an ambulatory gynaecology assessment and early pregnancy assessment area. The nurses will rotate between our Early Pregnancy and Gynae unit where ladies come with pregnancy complications and Women's health problems.
Gynae experience is essential and candidates must have a good understanding around sensitive subjects, such as miscarriages. Training will be offered to the right candidate if required. There are several support networks available, as trust we endeavour to support new and existing nurses.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a clinically based ward sister who will take a supportive role in strengthening the nursing contribution to patients and service users within Gynaecology/Surgical Ward and EPAGU Clinic.
This is in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) the post holder will assist develop, implement and evaluate a seamless specialist service between the two areas.
The applicant must have an understanding of Gynaecology and the required nursing skills. As a clinical lead you will be expected to contribute and manage a caseload of patients referred for specialist intervention, care and support which can be case sensitive.
The post holder will contribute to the ongoing development of innovative practice, standards of care and strategies to ensure practice development and education for other professionals caring for patients within this speciality.
