Main duties of the job
This post sits within Diabetes and Endocrinology department which sits within the Emergency Division.
The unit is led by seven Diabetes & Endocrinology Consultants. These consultants have special interests in multidisciplinary foot care, adolescent diabetes management, Antenatal endocrinology services, Insulin Pump therapy, system upskilling and using telehealth to improve diabetes care across South Warwickshire. There are active collaborations with community teams.
The department performs its outpatient functions between Warwick and Stratford Hospitals. All consultants additionally carry out general Diabetes and Endocrine clinics.
Diabetes/Endocrinology has a dedicated 22 bedded Avon ward located at Warwick Hospital. The ward consists of 10 isolation rooms and three 4 bedded bays that are very spacious, comfortable and modern. Beauchamp ward is a 16 bedded ward located at Warwick Hospital. All rooms are isolation rooms. The wards receive patients with general medical problems in addition to receiving speciality patients and patients with medical conditions needing isolation and barrier nursing. Medical Day Case Unit receives patients from all specialities and GP facilitating Day Case work for patients with Medical problems. The senior team is supportive of all doctors in achieving their career goals.

To take responsibility for continuing professional education in accordance with guidelines set out by the appropriate college/faculty/professional body.b. To initiate and participate in research and audit programmes in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.c. To work in collaboration with colleagues in developing skills to provide new ways of working across different professions, organisations i.e. community/primary care.
3) Clinical Governancea. In conjunction with Consultant colleagues, to ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
4) General elements:a. To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.b. To be able to work flexibly, and cross cover for colleagues.c. To observe the Trusts agreed policies and proceduresd. To take responsibility for your own health and safety complying with any safe working arrangements, policies and procedures which are in place.e.
