Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well-motivated person to join the Infection Prevention Team. The successful candidates will provide specialist infection prevention advice and education across the organisation.
The role includes all aspects of Infection Prevention and Control and the successful candidate will be developed to provide specialist advice, deliver training, perform audit and undertake and interpret surveillance of infection.
You will have a keen interest and passion for Infection Prevention and excellent communication skills in order to provide a quality service to South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust and SWFT Clinical Services. The post provides opportunities for development and this is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a developing, forward thinking and user facing department; which is an integral part of the clinical patient pathway and patient experience.
You will be required to support the delivery of a high quality service across all areas, therefore you must have a flexible approach to work, demonstrating organisational skills and be able to work to deadlines. Although the post holder will be based at Warwick Hospital, the Infection Prevention Team provides a service to Stratford Hospital, Leamington Spa Hospital, Ellen Badger Hospital, Community Services for Warwickshire and SWFT Clinical Services.
Main duties of the job
The Infection Prevention Nurse will work under the guidance of the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Infection Prevention and Control and the senior Infection Prevention Nurses as a specialist practitioner. Within the scope of the Infection Prevention and Control Team, the post holder will facilitate the prevention, surveillance, investigation and control of infection within South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust. The Infection Prevention and Control Nurse will also participate in education programmes for all grades of staff on aspects of infection prevention and control to improve compliance with best practice. The post holder will be required to operate flexibly within the Infection Prevention Team structure to ensure that a comprehensive service is provided to the Trust.
