Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust Clinical Education Simulation Team. An enthusiastic, motivated Band 6 Registered Practitioner to work in simulation required.
The successful candidate will have a comprehensive induction programme, being taught Human Factors Theory and debriefing skills. They will devise and deliver simulation and practical skills to clinical staff, students and multiagency partners in the skills lab, simulation rooms and occasionally via technology (Teams/Virtual Reality.)
The successful candidate will be an experienced registered practitioner who has supervised and assessed learners/junior staff in practice. They will be clinically competent, with relevant clinical knowledge of skills taught. Preferably having undertaken training including ILS/ALS. Ideally, they will have a teaching qualification/post graduate certificate or willingness to work towards this. To remain clinically relevant, they will undertake clinical supernumerary visits.
You must be committed to delivering teaching, ensuring staff develop skills needed to provide quality patient care adhering to Trust values. The post holder will be supported to undertake a quality improvement or similar projects in simulation and clinical skills if appropriate. This is currently a fixed term role at 37.5 hours per week over a five day period. Flexibility is required dependent on service need, generally 7.30am-5.30pm Monday-Friday.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the simulation and clinical skills teams within learning and development to design, co-ordinate, promote, facilitate and support the delivery of simulation and practical skills to clinical staff, students and multiagency partners.
To work as part of the simulation and clinical skills teams to develop and implement training opportunities encompassing human factors, low and hi-fidelity simulation and practical procedures virtually, in a classroom or in-situ.
To assess each learner's ability to understand the theory and to assess their ability to practically demonstrate skills in a simulated environment.
To occasionally act as an assessor at under/postgraduate practical exams in order to promote evidence-based practice in the use of practical procedures to staff and students to ensure quality care is delivered to patients across the Trust.
To deputise for the clinical skills manager or simulation and clinical skills lead in relevant meetings within the Trust and with local multiagency partners (e.g. universities) as needed.
