Job summary
This post offers the opportunity for doctors wishing to train in clinical neurosciences to gain parallel experience in clinical research or medical education. Research, quality improvement or medical education activities will be included in the job plan. For suitable applicants the post could include funding of a part-time higher degree supervised at a linked university.
This is a Permanent position designed to support research and undergraduate teaching as well as supporting and gaining experience within clinical neurosciences. For successful applicants wishing to be supported in studying for a part-time Masters or Doctorate the duration of contract would be extended to reflect the length of time required for this study.
Clinical duties will include ward cover for patients in the Central England Rehabilitation Unit. Appointees will gain clinical experience of a range of neurological and neurosurgical conditions and develop skills in interdisciplinary working and management of complex cases. There will be opportunity to gain experience in outpatient and outreach settings, working from hyperacute to long-term stages of the clinical pathways. Appointees will participate in weekly educational complex case meetings covering difficult medical, ethical and psychosocial issues.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will participate in the Royal Leamington Spa Rehabilitation Hospital on call Rota. This Rota is non-resident 1:6 on call Rota covering the Royal Leamington Spa Rehabilitation Hospital site only (no acute admissions) and is supported by an On Call Consultants.
On-call duties fall 1 in 6 with the other Specialty Doctors (Elderly Care and Adult Rehabilitation and the senior trust Specialist), and will provide out of hours cover for all patients on site (this is a Non-residential, off -site on call)
