Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Specialist Grade Dermatologist to join our team at Warwick. The post holder would work alongside 6 Consultant Dermatologists and 3 Specialty Registrars to provide high-quality dermatological care to the patients of South Warwickshire, based in the Warwick Dermatology Centre in the centre of Warwick. The successful candidate would be expected to work autonomously and manage an independent caseload to deliver outpatient clinics for general and skin cancer patients and perform surgical procedures, including skin cancer surgery on head and neck with direct closure. The post holder will participate in departmental meetings such as the Skin Cancer MDT, Dermato-pathology meeting and Combined Clinic.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will, together with senior colleagues, be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive Dermatology Service. The successful candidate will work flexibly and co-operatively with other members of the team to provide a high-quality, patient-centered service within this teaching hospital environment.

This is an especially exciting time to join the team as we have just relocated to newly refurbished premises in the centre of Warwick. This is a unit purely dedicated to the Dermatology department housing consultants, nurses and the secretarial team.

We provide a comprehensive General Dermatology and Skin Cancer Service to the patients of South Warwickshire. The majority of the Outpatient Clinics take place at Warwick Dermatology Centre, with some clinics being at Stratford Hospital.

Skin surgery is provided at Stratford Hospital and in the Warwick Dermatology Centre. Dr B Gee provides an Advanced Skin Surgery Service. Several Nurse Led Biopsy Lists operate each week in the Warwick Dermatology Centre and Stratford Hospitals.

The Dermatology Service is supported by 3 SpRs. All Resident doctors support all of the consultants in outpatient clinics and in covering ward work. The Department also has 5 Specialist Dermatology Nurses and 2 Clinical Nurse Specialist for Skin Cance
