Job summary
This role forms a key part of the Elective Division operational management team and will oversee the management of a group specialty services. The post holder will have oversight, leading as appropriate, on all aspects of day to day operations management, including the lead for all national elective access standards, including cancer, and Outpatient's Department.
Main duties of the job
To provide strong day to day leadership, supporting the Operational and Service Managers, for the services and be accountable for the operational effectiveness of the services.
To act as key member of the divisional management team.
To develop team morale and motivation through effective personal leadership, ensuring effective communication throughout the management structure.
Be responsible for the delivery of national access targets for services, including but not limited to Cancer and RTT.
Liaise closely with the Operational Manager to ensure long waiters are identified and that patients are booked according to clinical need, in line with access targets.
Line management of clinical and non-clinical staff as appropriate.
Ensure that the service is delivered within the agreed budget, escalating issues as necessary and taking remedial action. Leading on cost improvement projects both within the areas of responsibility but cross cutting Divisional projects as directed by the ACOO.
To provide senior leadership for the areas of responsibility, working with the Clinical Leads, Operational Managers, Service Managers, to manage improvement and innovation projects.
