Job summary
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic band 6 nurse to join our friendly Surgical Assessment Unit. This is an exciting opportunity to join the surgical team as it expands to a 7 day service with the opportunity to play a key role in developing our same day emergency surgical care service.
Main duties will include patient triage and assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of a high quality, safe and efficient service. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate competence in a variety of clinical skills.
The role is an excellent opportunity to advance your clinical leadership skills and support education for team members within the surgical assessment setting.
Applications will be considered for both full and part time roles.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will contribute to the development of the surgical assessment unit and support the surgical team and Unit Manager in the delivery of a consistently high quality and cost effective service. The role requires working closely with key stakeholders to support emergency flow from a variety of referral routes. The post holder will be expected to triage referrals, undertake initial patient triage and nursing assessments, provide ongoing patient management with an aim to provide same day emergency care. To deputise for the Ward Manager as required.
