A fantastic opportunity is now available to join our existing team of Emergency Nurse Practitioners within The Emergency Department. Our established and supportive team are ready to support the successful applicant through an approved period of Modular Learning and Supervised practice specialising in minor injuries and illness. This is a great opportunity to join an Emergency Department which is regularly recognised nationally for our high performance and innovative practice to successfully reduce patient waiting times.

This is a development role, and we are looking for individuals who have the drive and dedication to become an autonomous Practitioner. You will need a minimum of 3 years A&E experience at Band 5/6 with the ability to work across the multidisciplinary team, demonstrate a basic knowledge of minor injuries and wound care and a keen interest in assessment and treatment of minor injuries.

During training you will gain further skills and training in wound care, plaster technique, IRMER training and interpretation of x-rays. As well as musculoskeletal conditions, suturing, manipulation of upper limb joints, ophthalmic, assessing minor head injuries and ENT conditions.

On successful completion of key modules - Care and Management of Minor Injury and Illness, Paediatric Minor Illness and Injury successful applicants will continue as a band 6 Emergency Nurse Practitioner. Further training and development will continue to be supported.

Take responsibility for own professional development developing own skills within the Scope of Professional Practice and Trust development programmes. Attending any training/development activities required by the Trust and maintaining own personal development profile.

Participate in networks and forums to promote sharing / benchmarking of evidence-based practice.

Promote and comply with NMC professional standards and local standards for record keeping.

Promote and support the development of a dynamic and interactive learning environment which meets the needs of learners and trained staff within the department.

The post holder will be a nurse developing advanced clinical skills and expert knowledge base, providing a high standard of holistic care in the field of minor injuries and minor illness.

The post holder will develop to provide expert, evidence-based, individualistic clinical care in an autonomous capacity to patients attending Warwick Hospital Emergency Department.

The post holder will assess and order appropriate investigations, diagnose and treat patients and discharge or refer to specialist teams, without reference to a doctor.

The post holder will work in partnership with other healthcare professionals to achieve the Clinical Quality Indicators, including waiting time targets.

The post holder will provide specialist advice and management plane for patients with complex care needs and will provide specialist advice to other members of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).

The post holder will promote collaborative working relationships to facilitate the rapid delivery of seamless care.

The post holder will work towards the development of the service in collaboration with the ENP Team A&E Clinical Lead / Manager, clinicians and other service users, assisting the ENP Team with any other duties in support of the ENP role and function.

Organisational:

To monitor, maintain and regularly review acceptable standards of care in conjunction with the ENP Team and other members of MDT, taking appropriate action if standards are not met.

Participate I the development of policies, protocols and clinical guidelines necessary to support the development of the service.

Maintain national and local standards/protocols pertaining to clinical area, taking remedial action as appropriate and reporting deficits to the A&E Clinical Lead / Manager as appropriate.

Contribute to and influence decisions regarding service delivery through the participation in meetings.

Ensure the economical use of all resources.
