South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust provides acute and maternity services for a population of approximately 300,000 covering an area that includes Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa, Stratford upon Avon, and Kenilworth as well as rural South Warwickshire.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialty Doctor to work at Warwick Hospital joining the Haematology Team.
Main duties of the job
This is a fixed term post for 1 year and is suitable for doctors with a specialist interest in Haematology or seeking to gain further experience in Haematology.
The post is based at Warwick Hospital and the post-holder will rotate with our existing Speciality Doctor between the ward, treatment unit and outpatient clinics; some of which may be held at Stratford Hospital.

The post involves daily management of inpatients on Farries ward and referrals from other specialties as part of liaison haematology. The post-holder will also provide cover for the Day Unit to review and manage patients on chemotherapy who are unwell and perform procedures including bone marrows, venesections and removal of Hickman lines once suitably trained. They will also be expected to support the clinical nurse specialist as required and occasionally cover consent clinics and virtual patient assessment and results. The post holder will also participate in both general and sub-speciality clinics, including myeloma, lymphoma and obstetric haematology.
There will be an opportunity for research and audit and time available for laboratory training depending on the individual needs.
