Job summary
Mary Ward has successfully come out of the pandemic and has built a new team. The senior nursing team offers support and guidance to all the staff working on it. The Ward Manager, Sara, and her senior nurses have experience in developing newly qualified nurses, international OSCE nurses, students and new starters to respiratory. We have recently taken on apprentices for Nursing Associates, Registered Degree nurses topping up and Clinical Support Workers.
It is key you are an enthusiastic, self-motivated and welcome a challenge. Ideally with some acute hospital experience either pre or post registration would be desirable.
This post would also be an ideal learning and development opportunity for a Newly Qualified nurse that has an interest in acute medicine or an experienced Nurse that would like a change of speciality. We work closely with ED, AMU and ITU to facilitate the needs of respiratory patients getting them to the right team to continue their care. This role differs from day to day and we also have a lot of palliative patients who we build relationships with and also our regular patients.
Full training will be given with a 4 week induction and buddy with another Band 5 nurse. It is essential you have a "can do" attitude and a willingness to learn.
Main duties of the job
To deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients undergoing surgical or medical treatment. The post holders will be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs, and implementation and evaluation of the programme of the care. The post holders are required to work as part of a team committed to delivering and improving a high standard of nursing care within South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust.
