Job summary

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to be able to offer an opportunity to a highly motivated and dynamic individual to work within our Diabetic and Endocrinology department. We have a dedicated 22 bedded ward that is led by 5 consultants and supported by rotational trainee doctors. The successful candidate will join a highly motivated and passionate team that takes every opportunity to teach and support professional development.

This is a permanent Junior Trust Specialist (Lower) vacancy (SHO) and is an exciting post that offers significant opportunities for professional development. We support post-graduate education modules/higher qualifications within your study leave entitlement and also offer mentoring and training to help you achieve your MRCP/PACES. Additionally, you will have professional development and supervision by a consultant on a daily basis to assist your clinical practice and are encouraged to attend departmental teaching sessions.

Main duties of the job

This post sits within Diabetes and Endocrinology department which sits within the Emergency Division.

The unit is led by five Diabetes & Endocrinology Consultants. These consultants have special interests in multidisciplinary foot care, adolescent diabetes management, Antenatal endocrinology services, Insulin Pump therapy, system upskilling and using telehealth to improve diabetes care across South Warwickshire. There are active collaborations with community teams.

The department performs its outpatient functions between Warwick and Stratford Hospitals. All consultants additionally carry out general Diabetes and Endocrine clinics.

Diabetes/Endocrinology has a dedicated 22 bedded Avon ward located at Warwick Hospital. The ward consists of 10 isolation rooms and three 4 bedded bays that are very spacious, comfortable and modern. The ward receives patients with general medical problems in addition to receiving speciality patients and patients with medical conditions needing isolation and barrier nursing. The senior team is supportive of all doctors in achieving their career goals.
