The Cardiac Investigations unit covers a wide range of invasive and non-invasive cardiology procedures. The service works over several sites including our newly developed diagnostic hub at Stratford. We encourage innovative ways of working including working from home and flexible working hours. With the installation of our new cath lab suite and the planned new Cardiac Investigations department, this is an exciting time to join our expanding service.
The successful candidate will perform routine cardiac investigations, including diagnostic angiograms & device implants, ETTs, holter monitoring and analysis and device follow up. Training in echocardiography and devices, with a view to accreditation in either or both specialties would be encouraged. There will be the opportunity to develop training and leadership skills for the motivated and engaged candidate.
Main duties of the job
The organisation and control of the service is the responsibility of the Cardiology service manager in conjunction with the department manager. The post holder must report principally to the Lead Clinical Physiologist in charge of the section for the performance of the duties outlined below.
To deliver Cardiac Investigation services to the Trust and as necessary, services to other SWFT trust sites or other appropriate healthcare sites. To be an effective member of the Cardiology Department by providing a high standard of Cardiac physiological service and patient care. It is understood that the post holder may be required to participate in a flexible working hours system.
The Post holder will undertake and report physiological investigations on adult (minimal paediatric) patients in non-invasive, Echocardiography (with supervision), invasive and CRM (Cardiac Rhythm Management).
The role also involves supervision and training of junior members of the team, other internal staff on a daily basis.
Continually develop and update knowledge and highly specialist skills in specialist area of competence and delivery of evidence based care.
