EOC Clinical Team Leader

Job summary

The Clinical Team Leader is a highly visible and accountable leadership position with the Trust and is a key part of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Leadership Team, accountable for the day-to-day delivery of clinical services and clinical operations within the EOCs, with a particular focus on leadership and management of the Clinical Team.

The Clinical Team Leader is responsible for the day to day and ongoing leadership and management of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, including: Paramedics, Nurses, EOC Doctors andother allied health professionals within the EOC's employ.The Clinical Team Leader is expected to maintain competency in all Clinical Team workstreams and audit, maintaining ability and confidence to support front line delivery when necessary, or when requested to do so by the EOC Senior Leadership Team or command tier. They will act as a point of advice and escalation for EOC Cliniciansand should be experts in remote clinical triage.

Furthermore, the Clinical Team Leader will support the Senior EOC Leadership team by ensuring:

  • A consistent focus on operational performance and delivery of contracted activity (such as Hear and Treat activity).
  • High standards of performance, delivery and adherence to processes and policy.
  • Ensuring a culture of inclusivity and support is fostered within the EOC actively challenging and addressing issues as required and ensuring a performance and patient care focused environment.

Main duties of the job

  • Accountable to the Deputy Head of EOC (Clinical Ops & Safety), the Clinical Team Leader is a highly visible leadership role within the EOC and post holders must act as role models, acting with integrity and professionalism at all times.
  • When on duty the Clinical Team Leader is accountable for day-to-day management of the EOC Clinical Team including all aspects of staff wellbeing, clinical operational delivery, performance and patient safety.
  • Clinical Team Leaders will be the focal point for management of clinical operational delivery within the Emergency Operations Centres, always ensuring that EOC Clinical Team workforce act in line with the best interests of patients. Understanding and appreciation of measures required to ensure a high performing and safe model of delivery.
  • Responsible for overseeing the safe clinical management of the patient waiting stack, ensuring that clinical resource is correctly deployed in response to changing risk profiles.
  • Maintain clinical triage and clinical audit skills, contributing towards monthly audit of respective team members and delivering consistently high performance when usingestablished triage tools, as per Trust Policy.
  • Provide clinical support to team members requiring support or advice.
