Job summary
South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust (SWAST) are going through an exciting transformation in how we use data, analytics and business intelligence to support our patients and colleagues.
We know that access to information is critical so we're implementing the latest Microsoft technologies (SQL Server, Power BI and Azure) and looking to invest in new team members to support us on this journey.
We're looking for a Business Intelligence Manager who has experience of leading teams to deliver successful solutions from end-to-end. This will include developing our data warehouse and overseeing its migration to cloud, implementing a new suite of self-service reports using Power BI, and supporting colleagues to increase their data literacy.
If you're passionate about leading a talented team and delivering brilliant business intelligence solutions then we'd love to hear from you!
Experience of Ambulance Services and NHS is helpful but not essential. More importantly you'll be an inclusive leader, create a positive "can do" culture, and be comfortable leading our organisation through change.
Main duties of the job
- Leading a team of 5-10 people, providing clear and stretching performance objectives, supporting their wellbeing, coaching and mentoring them to be their best
- Managing complex and demanding internal and external stakeholders to understand their information needs and determine potential solutions
- Managing the end-to-end delivery of our data warehouse including sourcing data from business systems, transforming and modelling data for use in reports, and optimising performance of queries and processes
- Planning the migration of our data warehouse from SQL Server to Azure
- Building re-usable datasets, visualisations and reports in Microsoft Power BI, supporting users to successfully adopt them and providing training to increase their data literacy
- Leading on complex transformation projects and workstreams, translating high-level strategies into specific work packages and being accountable for their delivery
- Managing internal and external suppliers to ensure timely delivery of solutions
- Ensuring the quality of data and compliance with relevant laws and legislation within our data solutions
- Overcoming challenges and blockers, showing resilience and determination to achieve the right outcomes for our team
- Creating a positive, "can-do" culture and acting as a role model for the Trust's values and behaviours
