Job summary
About the role
We're looking for a motivated, proactive and collaborative Assistant Project Manager to work on a range of IT hardware and software projects to implement new systems and upgrade current systems. The projects will deliver improvements in a range of areas including estates, patient records and reporting, supporting the service we provide to patients. The role involves independently managing and pro-actively progressing IT-based projects and work packages, liaising with stakeholders (including Trust colleagues and suppliers), problem solving, and maintaining documentation. The work is varied, fast paced, and challenging.
About us
We're a small IT project team within the Trust's Digital Data & Technology (DDaT) Project Mngmnt Office. The wider DDaT Project team manages a range of technology and emergency communications projects while the focus of our team is managing a programme made of several smaller IT projects relating to infrastructure and systems. Our key stakeholders are varied, including internal colleagues, representatives from the wider NHS and external suppliers. This role is supported by the IT project manager and works alongside another Assistant IT project manager. Although we have projects that we individually focus on, we work collaboratively, sharing knowledge and best practice. We use a range of project management methodologies, including PRINCE2. We work a hybrid home/office pattern with at least 2 days in the office in Exeter each week.
Main duties of the job
You must be able to work effectively across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and be able to think flexibly to resolve barriers whilst keeping the benefits for service users at the centre of your work. Previous experience of working at a junior/assistant project manager, or senior project support level, is essential. You don't need to have a technical IT background but will have an awareness of key concepts relating to IT Security, Information Governance and IT technologies (including Active Directory, Azure, Mobile Device Management, Office 365, Sharepoint, Network and Internet based solutions). Experience in specification, procurement, development, testing and implementation of IT-based solutions would be beneficial and, whatever your previous project management background, an enthusiasm to learn about IT-related solutions is absolutely essential. You'll be able to work two days a week from our Exeter office.
About your application
Your qualifications and employment history only make up part of the picture. We want to know why you're interested in this role specifically, and why you're a good match for this work, our team and our organisation. In your supporting statement, please include specific examples demonstrating how you have used your skills and experience to progress projects and tell us about any experiences you have of working with IT systems or other technology to find solutions.
