Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist- Cleft Lead

Job summary
We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) to be our new Cleft Lead following retirement of a long standing member of the service.
You will work as part of our friendly and established children's speech and language therapy service and be based with our central locality team.
We are happy to support training requirements that would be required to step into this role, and clinical supervision will be provided by both CFT and the regional cleft team.
We are seeking 3 days of support for the cleft element of this role. Depending on whether a full or part time option is sought, the content of the remaining days will be discussed at interview. This clinical work would comprise of;
- Assessment and therapy for a generalist community caseload in the central and/or west teams
- Clinical lead for voice
- Assessment and therapy for a eating, drinking and swallowing caseload

Main duties of the job
The postholder(s) will support Band 6 Link Cleft SALT(s) and Community SALTs working with this patient group: to train and advise in appropriate therapy programmes
The postholder(s) will be the first point of contact between community SALT teams and the Regional Cleft Centre SALT Team.
To undertake the Band 7 Link Specialist Cleft SALT role for the Cornwall area.
To undertake specialist assessment of children with a cleft lip and palate in line with national guidelines i.e. at 2 and 3 years of age, using both formal (specialist) and informal techniques, and report the outcome to the Regional Cleft Centre. Cases will include children with a variety of syndromes and rare conditions associated with cleft palate.
To undertake high quality speech recordings according to agreed national protocols.
To attend multidisciplinary clinics for clinical review and audit of patients seen by the South West Cleft Service.
To ensure the delivery of the speech patient pathway for children who attend the South West Cleft service
