This postholder will be instrumental in providing a technical support to both the facilities management and project management within the estates team. This post will be fundamental in developing Project specifications written within the HTM, HBN and national guidelines as well as providing technical support in one or more of the trusts safe system of works using their engineering expertise to support clinical and estates managers in delivering excellent care.

Main duties of the job

The role will be the first port of call to estate queries within their designated area. The individual will be the estates lead for a region in the county working directly with the Area Director and operational staff ensuring that their estate is suitable and safe. In this position they will provide a clerk of works role delivering quality assurance maintaining the standards of the Trusts contracted FM providers.

In addition, this post will be responsible for providing training of clinical staff in the management of the estate. Training will be around contract management of the current estate providers and the management of maintenance and new works.

Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience

Essential

  • Professional knowledge within an Engineering discipline acquired through degree, plus specialist post graduate knowledge acquired through courses and/or relevant experience
  • Experience of working within a permit process

Desirable

  • Membership to a suitable Engineering body i.e., CIOB, CIME
  • Prince 2 Project Management or equivalent
  • Safety qualifications - IOSH or NEEBOSH Managing safely
  • Experience of a clerk of the works type role
  • Experience of working within the NHS
  • Knowledge and qualification of Fire stopping requirements across both passive and active systems

Skills and Aptitude

Essential

  • Ability to design & deliver detailed specifications across multi engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to use a range of MS Office applications, including word, excel, PowerPoint

Knowledge and abilities
