Job summary

We have two full-time Healthcare Assistant maternity cover posts available to join our welcoming nursing team on our 17-bedded ward at Stratton Community Hospital.

This is a varied and rewarding role, supporting the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to our predominantly elderly patients. You will work closely with nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team, playing a key role in supporting patient recovery, independence and wellbeing in a community hospital setting.

We are committed to developing our staff and can offer Band 2 or Band 3 positions depending on your level of experience.

The roles involve working a mixture of day and night shifts on a rotational basis to support 24-hour nursing care, seven days a week. While the main base is Stratton Community Hospital, flexibility is required to support Launceston Community Hospital in line with service needs.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of the post is:

  • To assist in the delivery of clinical care, planned and assessed by the Registered Nurses.
  • To carry out care / other duties under indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Senior Health Care Assistant.
  • Support care on a day-to-day basis for all patients in the clinical area in a manner sensitive to the individual clients needs and wishes, acknowledging their rights and beliefs at all times
  • Contribute to resource management within the clinical area
