Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Occupational Therapist - North Rehab Therapies Team

The closing date is 14 September 2025

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the North Cornwall Integrated Therapy team, based primarily at Stratton Hospital.

You will gain experience with a wide variety of admissions, conditions and social problems. Every contact and treatment plan is different, bringing variety and challenge to each day.

This is an innovative service, constantly adapting to meet community and service user needs, so we require a 'can do' attitude and a keenness to learn and develop.

Stratton Hospital has 17 rehabilitation beds.

As part of the Therapy Service, you will be supported in developing clinical skills, working with the wider MDT and community services. Our education-focused team offers in-service training, clinical and peer supervision, and wider development opportunities. Staff are encouraged to contribute to service improvement and leadership. With strong university links, we support fieldwork education, and you will have opportunities to supervise students and therapy assistants.

This job is currently only open to people who already work for the NHS in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly. We are committed to supporting our dedicated staff, so only current employees of the following organisations can apply:

  • Cornwall Foundation Trust
  • Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust
  • Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board

If you do not currently work for one of these NHS organisations, your application will not be considered at this time.

Main duties of the job

The post is 30 hours per week with working pattern to be agreed at interview.

Seven day working may be a requirement of this post in the future.

You will need excellent communication, organisation and prioritisation skills to work effectively in this busy environment, providing specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions to inpatients, providing rehabilitation and contributing a specific occupational perspective to planning and facilitating discharge.

The in-patient occupational therapy service has a commitment to service innovation, evidence-based practice and professional development.

You will have regular supervision with the Lead Occupational Therapist.

You will have opportunity to host Occupational Therapy Students from Plymouth university as a practice educator

About us

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increase the numbers of people who use out services.
